Ladies, how many times have you missed an important phone call simply because you didn’t hear it ringing in your purse? It’s an all too common problem for women. While there are certainly solutions such as Bluetooth earpieces, for the fashionable female it’s a fashion faux pas. Women spend hundreds of dollars on high-end handbags from designers like Coach, Dooney & Burke, or Fendi (to name a few), and want to make sure that they keep up this statement of good taste when choosing accessories.
Enter the Trellie, the world’s first fashionable Bluetooth accessory for a woman’s purse. Currently on Kickstarter, the Trellie is designed to hang on a woman’s purse and using Bluetooth technology notifies of any incoming or missed calls, and looks good while doing it. Trellie states they have worked with top fashion designers to make sure that it’s design is not only useful, but beautiful as well. Made with high-quality metal in either silver or gold, the Trellie looks like something you’d buy at the jewelry counter instead of the electronics counter. Measuring in at a small 1.12 inches wide by 0.91 inches thick and 2.44 inches tall, the Trellie fits nicely on almost any handbag without looking ridiculous or out-of-place.
Using a bright LED light, the Trellie will flash when there is an incoming call, and will continue to flash if a call is missed until it is cleared. This visual cue is great for women who have to leave their phones in their purses, but want to be notified of any incoming or missed calls in case of an emergency. However, the Trellie does not include any audio alert, something we find may be a serious turnoff for many women. Women who have their smartphones in their purses are carrying them on their shoulder while they are out, and not looking at their purses. If the goal is to notify women of incoming calls they can’t see or hear because their phone is in their purse, then an audible alert as well as a visual alert would seem appropriate. A simple on/off switch for the audible alert would allow for visual only alerts (like the Trellie in its current design) for situations where cell phone silence is necessary.
However, the Trellie is a great accessory for women who have their purses on their desks and within their line-of-sight at most times. It provides a simple, yet good-looking solution that women will not mind putting on their handbags or purses. The Trellie is available now on Kickstarter for $40, and for a personalized Trellie with monogramming a $50 backing is required. Trellie is expected to ship this May right in time for Mother’s Day, and is a good gift to consider for the Mom on the go.
