The iPhone 5 launched on September 21 on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, selling five million units over the first weekend. Currently, the iPhone 5 is in very short supply, with a three to four-week wait when purchasing through Apple. If you live in the Mid-Atlantic, however, regional carrier nTelos is now selling the iPhone 5 as of this past Friday, and according to their website, has iPhone 5′s in stock now.

If that wasn’t good enough news, nTelos is selling the iPhone 5 for $50 less than Apple, or any other retailer. Now you can score a 16 GB iPhone 5 for only $149, or a 32 GB iPhone 5 for $249. The discounted prices require a new two-year agreement with nTelos Wireless, just like the major carriers. However, nTelos offers very competitive plans, starting at $99 per month for a single line with unlimited talk, text, and data. Family plans start at a paltry $140 per month for two lines with two iPhone 5′s with unlimited talk, text, and data. These plans, like Sprint, offer unlimited data, meaning no worrying about data caps or limits like AT&T or Verizon. However, tethering on these unlimited data plans will cost an extra $15 per month, per line. Below is a sample of ordering two 16 GB iPhone 5′s with nTelos on a Family Unlimited Plan.
nTelos Wireless operates their own network within the Mid-Atlantic, and has a licensing agreement with Sprint for nationwide data and voice services. Like most Sprint – and AT&T – customers 4G LTE is not available at this time for nTelos customers. nTelos is working on deploying their own 4G LTE network, so it is entirely possible that your nTelos iPhone 5 will have 4G LTE before your contract term, and next upgrade, comes. Furthermore, for many consumers, the savings per month on their wireless bill negates the 4G LTE factor, considering most common tasks with the iPhone can be completed quick enough on existing 3G networks.
This is great news for anyone looking to score an iPhone 5, but not looking to break the bank on their wireless bill. Furthermore, nTelos offers a low-cost, high-quality network. With T-Mobile being left out in the cold yet again, regional carriers like nTelos offer the low-cost alternative that customers crave, without all the sacrifices that come with some of the prepaid carriers.
